Why Volunteer

  • The simple reason is that we need your help to make a difference. It’s our belief that with your help we can help older people in Scotland to eat well, live well and age well – with the ultimate aim of helping them to maintain their independence.
  • Volunteers work from their local branch base undertaking a variety of jobs on a schedule to suit their individual needs and availability. Their time is a precious gift to us and we aim to make the most of any time given to us.
  • Food Train offers a supportive environment for people to volunteer whatever their reason for volunteering, so if you are trying to get back to work or have additional support needs, then we might be the right place for you!
  • Volunteering also has the secondary benefit of being good for you. It can make you feel good, by giving your time to help others. It can be a very social activity and help you meet new friends. Volunteering can also be good for those wanting to fill a gap in their CV, whilst developing new skills at the same time.
